There is a lot to like about this hotel and while it doesn't rate high for value for money, it's certainly a hotel you would happily pay that little bit more to enjoy the standard this hotel offers. I would certainly have no hesitation to come back and stay again and hopefully experience staying at the duplex room. I marked the food down purely due to the dinner experience which would have received a 10 otherwise.

This was my first stay at the MGallery Vie Hotel in Bangkok and I have to say I was quite impressed for the most part. It’s not perfect, but then again, I’ve yet to stay at a “perfect hotel” and what could be considered perfect is really just a matter of perspective. I could easily see the majority of guests describing their stay as being “perfect”, and I certainly wouldn’t deny them of that. For the purpose of review, I have to be complimentary to what the hotel offers as well as critical for the most fussiest of people considering staying here.

The location of the Vie Hotel, like any other hotel in Bangkok is all about how easy it is to get about when you want to go out. The Vie Hotel is one of a very limited number of hotels in Bangkok that you can say is little more than a one minute walk to the BTS, in this case, Ratchathewi Station on the ever popular Sukhumvit line being one stop away from Siam which is an “interchange station” to the Silom line and one stop away from the airport link at Phaya Thai.

Normally hotels I’ve stayed in the past that would consider themselves “close to BTS” are a 5 – 10 minute walk or worse yet a short tuktuk ride, so a BTS station right on your doorstep was quite enjoyable when we had to go out. Also, being smack on a main road, getting a taxi is quick and easy. Don’t dismiss this as always being the case with the number of taxi’s in Bangkok.

A recent but hugely disappointing stay at another 5 star hotel in Bangkok close to the same main road but on a side soi, after check out in the morning left us waiting 40+ minutes until they could flag down an empty taxi to take us to the airport. If I hadn’t allowed extra time to get to the airport, we would have certainly missed check-in for our morning flight. I haven’t done a review on that hotel as it would be so scathing, it would read as if I have a huge grudge against them and those issues had nothing to do with taxi availability which is out of their control for the main part. Let’s just say that particular ‘unnamed’ 5 star hotel won’t ever be seeing any of my business again.
